AuroraHut – An Unique Stay Surrounded by the Nature of Finnish Lapland
A Unique Overnight Stay on the Water
Imagine waking up on a peaceful lake, surrounded by the beautiful nature of Finnish Lapland. Outside, everything is quiet, the trees are covered in snow, and from the comfort of your warm bed, you can look through the large windows at the winter landscape. With a little luck, you might even see the Northern Lights dancing across the sky at night.
Our AuroraHut offers you a unique and personal way to experience Lapland. Away from the crowds, surrounded by nature, with all the peace and privacy you need to truly relax and unwind.
What is an AuroraHut?
An AuroraHut is a unique floating accommodation, specially designed to bring you as close to nature as possible while still enjoying the comfort of a warm and cosy place to stay.
The AuroraHut is not just accommodation on the water, but is officially classified and registered as a boat in Finland. It floats on the lake and operates completely independently, without any permanent connections to the mainland. Thanks to its own electricity supply and built-in fresh water and wastewater tanks, you can enjoy a comfortable stay in a truly special location surrounded by nature.
Inside, you will find a comfortable double bed, heating, a private toilet and large windows offering beautiful views of the lake and surrounding landscape.
The AuroraHut also has a water tank connected to the tap. This water can be used for washing your hands, rinsing things and other everyday purposes. Please note that the water from this tap is not suitable for drinking.
Drinking water is provided separately in a portable water container with its own tap, available inside the AuroraHut.
Especially during the dark winter months, staying in the AuroraHut is a special experience, as you can look up at the starry sky and perhaps even watch the Northern Lights from the comfort of your warm bed.
A simple breakfast is included in your stay.
Our Location – Peace and Nature Near Levi
Our AuroraHut is located on Lake Munajärvi, near Köngäs, just a short distance from Levi in Finnish Lapland.
Surrounded by forests and away from the busy tourist areas, it is a place where you can enjoy the silence and beautiful nature that make Lapland so special.
During winter, the surroundings turn into a beautiful white landscape, with snow-covered trees, frozen lakes and long, dark nights. Thanks to its peaceful location and limited light pollution, it is also a wonderful place to watch the Northern Lights when conditions are right.
We also use this location for our own Arctic Verge activities, including our Northern Lights experiences. The AuroraHut is located at a comfortable distance from the area where our activities take place, allowing you to enjoy peace and privacy during your stay. However, you may occasionally see other guests visiting our property.
Other local operators also use the lake and surrounding area. During winter, husky safaris and reindeer experiences take place nearby. You might even look out of your AuroraHut and see a team of huskies pulling a sled across the frozen lake or spot reindeer passing by. It is a wonderful sight and a special part of life in Lapland.
Although you are surrounded by nature, Levi is still close by. This makes it easy to combine a peaceful overnight stay with restaurants, winter sports and other activities in the area.
November 2026 – Our First Overnight Stays
Starting in November 2026, we will welcome our first guests to the AuroraHut.
During this first month, the AuroraHut will be available as a heated accommodation with a comfortable bed, electricity, water, a private toilet and a simple breakfast included.
Important to know: During November, there will not yet be a sauna or shower available. We will still be finishing our traditional Finnish sauna and the adjoining heated living area.
November is therefore especially suitable for guests who would love to spend a unique night surrounded by nature and do not mind that shower facilities are not yet available.
From December 2026 – Traditional Finnish Sauna Included
From December 2026 onwards, your stay will become even more special, as our traditional wood-fired Finnish sauna will be available and included in your overnight stay.
The sauna is located near the lakeshore, just a short distance from the AuroraHut. Here, you can enjoy an authentic Finnish sauna experience, heating the sauna yourself with a wood-burning stove and taking your time to relax.
Connected to the sauna is a heated living area with large windows and beautiful views over the lake. You are welcome to use this space during your stay as well. It is a lovely place to sit, enjoy a drink, warm up or simply relax while looking out over the peaceful surroundings.
Washing the Traditional Finnish Way
Our sauna does not have a modern shower with running hot water. Instead, you can wash yourself in the traditional Finnish way.
Water is heated using the wood-burning sauna stove and mixed with cold water until it reaches a comfortable temperature. You can then wash yourself using a handheld shower with a pump.
It is a simple and traditional way of washing that fits perfectly with the peaceful and natural experience we want to offer our guests.
Both the sauna and the heated living area are included in your overnight stay from December onwards, at no additional cost.
A Place to Truly Relax and Unwind
At Arctic Verge, we believe it is important for our guests to experience Lapland in a peaceful and personal way.
Our AuroraHut is not part of a large hotel or holiday resort, but one unique accommodation in a beautiful location. You have your own little place by the lake, surrounded by nature, where you can enjoy the silence and stunning scenery.
Whether you are visiting to see the Northern Lights, enjoy a romantic getaway or simply escape the busyness of everyday life, we hope to give you an experience you will remember for a long time.
We are continuously developing our location, but we always want to keep the small-scale and personal atmosphere that makes Arctic Verge so special to us.
Welcome to our AuroraHut. Your own little piece of Lapland.
